Sister product to the industry leading IRISS VPFR Infrared Viewing panes, the IRISS VP12 is the first product designed for use as an ultrasound port. Technicians can obtain fast accurate and safe indications of whether or not electrical equipment is arcing prior to opening the cabinet.

The IRISS VP12 has a 1/2" (12.9mm) opening with a lockable cover which will maintain an IP65 (NEMA 4) seal when closed. The housing is made of durable, nonconductive switch gear plastic. The entire assembly is ideal for industrial use: impact resistant, UV resistant, and tolerant of a broad range of acids and alkalis. And the entire assembly can be re-used when your company upgrades its switch gear in the future.

The VP12 is shipped with a patented IP2X grill system which complies with the IEEE C.37.20.2 section a3.6 requirement for switch gear. This open grill allows for easy access for ultrasound data, while ensuring that nothing "larger than a human finger" can be inserted into the switch gear. Because the grill assembly allows for an exchange of the outside and inside atmospheres, IRISS always recommends that appropriate PPE be utilized when sliding the cover away from any grill.

As a bonus, thermographers appreciate that IRISS also includes an IR1 Polymer lens which can be used in place of the grill (at time of installation) so that the VP12 can be used as an IP65 sealed IR Viewing Pane for thermographic inspection of small targets. This added versatility makes the VP12 an ideal stock item for fitting during shutdowns.

When used as an acoustic emissions port:

Important Safety Note:
When used as an IR viewing pane the VP12 Range meet the IEEE standard (C.37.20.2 section a.3.6) for Visual viewing panes in medium and high voltage electrical equipment. When used as an ultrasound inspection port all PPE requirements must be strictly adhered to.
