IRISS, Inc. Announces CAP and VP Series certified to UL50E/NEMA - Environmental Ratings

IRISS, Inc., the manufacturer of the world's only industrial-grade infrared windows capable of passing durability and impact requirements has completed environmental testing on the VPFR Series (including VP-12) to the following UL 50E & NEMA Environmental Type Ratings: 1,2,3,3R, and 5. The Custom Application Products (CAP) Series which were the world's first square IR windows series, were UL & NEMA Environmental Type Rated for: 1, 2, 3, 3R, 5, 12, 12K, 13 (as designated by UL).

The UL & NEMA standards apply to enclosures for electrical equipment intended to be installed and used in non-hazardouslocations as follows: enclosures for indoor locations only, Types 1, 2, 5, 12, 12K, and 13; and enclosures for indoor or outdoor locations, Types 3 and 3R.

In addition to the environmental ratings both product ranges were also rated to UL 1558 which is a standard which covers metal-enclosed low-voltage power circuit breaker switchgear enclosures. While this standard is for lower voltages (<600 volts) we felt it prudent to certify to this standard as it is more universally accepted. The fact that we also meet the Impact and Load requirements for IEEE C37.20.2 (A.3.6) which covers installations up to and including 38,000 Volts should not be overlooked, as this greatly differentiates our products from all other competitors offerings.

Robert Price, Supply Chain, Logistics and Manufacturing Manager of IRISS added: "Obtaining the UL & NEMA certifications for our entire product line is a great accomplishment for all of us at IRISS. We have pushed the boundaries of how well an infrared window can be built and the UL certifications acknowledge our efforts. However, we will not remain satisfied with these ratings and will be actively pursuing product enhancements to gain additional certifications".

According to CEO, Martin Robinson, IRISS windows are "the most tested windows on the market." The UL & NEMA ratings on the CAP Series and the entire VP Series, certifies these both for indoor and outdoor applications. "For years we have had customers installing our windows in outdoor settings and have not had any failures. UL & NEMA certifying that direct exposure to beating rain, does not interfere with the successful operation of our windows and results in no wetting of components within a rated enclosure, was a logical next step in differentiating us from the competition," continues Robinson.

As solutions providers the team at IRISS brings a multitude of experiences from world class maintenance programs together to meet the individual needs of commercial, industrial, power generation, and government maintenance programs that put the clients' needs ahead of profit margins or fixed product offerings. IRISS, Inc., Announces Promotion of Arby Dickert to Position of America's Sales Manager

IRISS Inc. announces that Arby Dickert has been promoted to America's Sales Manager. "Arby joined IRISS in January, 2010 and he was hired for a strategic sales position due in part to his expertise in the Condition Monitoring and Reliability Maintenance Industry which made him a very desirable candidate for the sales position we had open at the time. In a very short time, Arby has proven that "hit the ground running" is what some people say they will do, but which he actually did. It is Arby's passion and aptitude for learning the Infrared market as well as his previous experience managing a mature and successful sales team, that perfectly position him for this promotion to America's Sales Manager," said Martin Robinson, CEO and founder of IRISS, Inc.

Arby Dickert brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven sales record to IRISS, Inc. His background includes numerous small company start-ups in the PdM industry and he has travelled extensively working with industry representatives in the USA, Canada, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. In his new role, Arby will be directly responsible for sales in the Americas as well as developing our partnerships (domestically and internationally), building sales channels and managing the regional sales representative network to ensure their success.

"I am energized with this opportunity to work with a great representative network as well as assist Martin in building a worldwide presence. IRISS, Inc. has a very positive, knowledgeable and dedicated staff that is willing to do whatever it takes to help our customers. Everyone is aligned with the number one goal of keeping our customers safe while saving them money and it is my personal goal to see to it that we continue this tradition of uncompromising quality in all our business dealings that will ensure it thrives for years to come," said Arby Dickert.

IRISS, Inc. Introduces a Global First: Square Infrared Windows

IRISS, Inc., the manufacturer of the world's only industrial-grade infrared windows capable of passing durability and impact requirements; the first ultrasound ports; emissivity standardization "land marking" tags; and the world's only transmissive PDU panels has expanded its product line of Custom Application Products (CAP) to include the world's first Square Infrared Window.

"Who says Infrared windows must be round?" said Martin Robinson, CEO of IRISS, Inc. "For years, industry has been restricted to round windows. IRISS Custom Application Products (CAP) are revolutionizing the infrared window industry. The polymer lens material allows us to manufacture the custom windows our customers need in virtually any shape or size. This means that for applications where the round IR window is not suitable, customers now have a real solution that works!"

IRISS, Inc. is known worldwide for producing the innovative VPFR round windows that are the world's only industrial-grade Infrared window. "In the past, the round, infrared windows were typically no larger than 4 inches. Now, we manufacture a custom solution for assets that do not lend themselves to the traditional round windows; either because they do not give complete coverage or because so many windows were required that it quickly becomes cost prohibitive. Often, IRISS can take a panel, machine guard, or cowling and use it as a template to manufacture not only an Infrared (IR) viewing pane, but also an optical viewing pane. Because we use a polymer, the possibilities are endless. IRISS CAP products are available in many shapes to fit the requirements found in the field; square, rectangle, triangle - any shape. IRISS designs, engineers and manufactures to the customer's specifications" said Arby Dickert with IRISS, Inc.

As a Level III thermographer, innovator and pioneer in the field of maintenance technology and Infrared Thermography, Martin Robinson designed the CAP product to meet the individual needs of the clients' assets. Mr. Robinson has met with, consulted, or advised international maintenance and reliability leaders on electrical preventive maintenance (PM) and electrical safety standards of NFPA and OSHA. A recognized authority in the field of Infrared Thermography (IR), Martin Robinson has designed Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) programs to include IR, Non-destructive Testing (NDT), as well as the implementation of green energy initiatives and energy management strategies. Based on over 17 years of practical experience, Mr. Robinson recognized the need for industrial-grade infrared windows with the design flexibility necessary to provide for the diversity of assets found in different facilities and applications. The Myth of Arc Flash Resistance

Myths are entertaining, instructive, and inspirational. Myths are intended to be harmless, told around a campfire or as a bed-time story. Because Myths have no basis in reality, there is no one to hold responsible for their truthfulness. They are often just believed to be true and are passed along through a community without ever really being researched to prove their validity. Most of the time, a Myth is about something simple or inconsequential.

When a Myth is about something as serious and potentially deadly as what can withstand an Arc Flash event, these "stories" can have consequences that are anything but harmless or amusing.

An Arc Flash is not a Myth. An Arc Flash event occurs daily in industrial workplaces just like yours. On average, one fatality or serious injury occurs every 3.2 hours as a result of an Arc Flash event.

There is a myth that an Arc Flash-resistant IR window exists. Many reliability and maintenance professionals are under the impression that an IR window will protect them in the event of an arc blast. The consequences of believing this myth can cost you your life!

Infrared windows cannot protect you from an Arc Flash event. The simple fact is: there is no such thing as an Arc Resistance rating for any IR window. Any claims to the contrary are just plain dangerous and negligent.

An IR window is a data collection point for Infrared inspections. An IR window allows for a closed panel inspection of electrical switchgear components. Closed-panel inspection using IR windows will eliminate more than 99 percent of arc flash triggers during inspection. IR windows are a safer, more efficient way to perform infrared inspections of energized electrical equipment using an Infrared camera.

At IRISS, your safety is our primary concern. That is why we want you to know that believing the Myth of the Arc Flash-resistant IR Window has life-threatening possibilities.

IRISS never overlooks a detail.

Neither should you.
